|Marion Krienke – 1951 – Jan. 7 2018 – Marion administrated the 1212 Dakota facility and artificial green for Bowls Manitoba for many years, assisted by her husband Kevin.
Gérard Bilodeau – 1925 – Aug. 13, 2017 – Gerry had been an active bowler at Norwood since 2005 and bowled enthusiastically until almost his last day when he passed suddenly at age 93.
Pat Willson – 1938 – Feb. 27 2017 – Pat enjoyed spending some of her summer at Tuxedo LBC. Her poise and friendliness both on and off the green will be missed.
Don Playfair – 1948 – Feb.12 2017 – Don bowled at Tuxedo and Gateway and was always willing to give his time to help. His family described him as forever remembered as a loving, selfless, non-judgemental man.
Gary Boyd – 1935 – Oct. 13 2016 Gary was an avid bowler out of Tuxedo who will be missed by family and friends. He is remembered for his easy going nature. His wife June, also an avid bowler, passed away in 2014.
Gordon Law – Passed Oct. 6 2016 Gordie as he was affectionately called was one of the finest lawn bowlers to come out of Manitoba. He will always be remembered for his genuine humility and kindness. He is survived by his wife Donna, also an avid bowler.
Blaine Hyslop – Jan. 23 1946 – Mar. 3 2016 – Blaine was accomplished in many sports. He bowled at Norwood LBC and was a regular at prov. competitions, going to Nationals on a regular basis.
Marian Kostiuk – Dec. 12 1933 – Feb. 25 2015 – Marian was a regular member of Norwood LBC along with her husband Bob, who pre-deceased her.
Mildred (Millie) Anderson – Millie passed away Feb. 22, 2015 at the age of 85. She was a member of Norwood LBC, although she was not a member the last few years.
John Williams – Oct. 30 2014 – Although John first came to Wpg. in 1952 to attend U. of M. he lived most of his life in Westchester County, New York, where he raised a family with wife Joan. After she passed away, John resettled in Wpg. where he enjoyed curling, golf, bridge and lawn bowling at Tuxedo LBC.
Morgan Svendsen – Aug. 20 1933 – Oct. 2 2014 Morgan was a regular bowler at numerous Norwood club games, a pastime he dearly enjoyed.
June Boyd – June passed away peacefully on July 18 2014 at the age of 77. She was an active lawn bowler, playing mainly out of Tuxedo.
Sam Malegus – Aug. 21,1922 – May 2, 2014 Sam was a long time bowler starting at a club that no longer exists-Greendell. He was a tireless worker at Tuxedo until ill health slowed him down. His beloved wife Moira is still Tuxedo’s Social convenor.
Captain Robert (Bob) Douglas Shinnie – passed away on February 26, 2014 surrounded by his family. He will be missed by is wife Shirley and his children Jennifer, Joneen (Doug), Wanda (Glenn), Cindy (Andre), Steven (Maria) and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bob worked as a bush pilot for 22 years (1951 to 1973) followed by positions as chief pilot for Lambair, commercial pilot for Transair, Pacific Western and Canadian Airlines. He represented MB in seven national lawn bowling competitions and served as Chief Umpire for the Manitoba Lawn Bowling Association for several years.
|Celia (Cece) Marks – passed away peacefully with her family at her side. Full obituary will be published later. A celebration of Cece’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday Oct 18, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.|
|John Thurston – passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital. John was a Norwood member for several years. A come and go celebration of John’s life is planned for October 10th, 2013.|
|Heather Horton – passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2013. Heather was active in sports, travel, and the community. She was an avid curler her entire life (MLCA and the Fort Rouge Curling Club) and in the summer she golfed and lawn bowled (Norwood Lawn Bowling Club). She participated in yoga for many years.|
|Bob Buchanon – passed away in December 23, 2012. Bob was a long-time member of Tuxedo Lawn Bowling Club. He served as the President of Bowls MB in 2006 and 2007.|
|Susan Joyce – passed away in 2012. Susan was a member of the Gimli Lawn Bowling Club.|
|Bob Kostiuk – passed away on September 2, 2011. He was interred at Green Acres in a private ceremony. He and Marian had been members at Norwood since 2002.|
|Marjorie Dewar – passed away on February 2, 2011. She died at the age of 94 at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. Marjorie had been an Honourary Life Member.|
|Barbara Whittaker – passed away on January 3, 2011. She had been a member at River Heights and Tuxedo LBC. She is survived by her daughter Christina Whittaker.|
|Marcel Dorge – Passed away on August 18, 2010 at the age of 81 after a short battle with pneumonia. He had been a member at Norwood LBC for several years and volunteered often.|
|Josephine (Jo) MacKay – passed away peacefully on July 30, 2010 at the age of 94. Until the age of 90, Jo had been actively lawn bowling at Norwood LBC where she was a life member.|
|Brother Jean-Paul Cormier – passed away peacefully on July 14, 2010 at the age of 70. He had been a member at Norwood LBC before he moved to Ottawa.|
|Pamela Hyslop – Pam passed away on May 27, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. Pam and her husband of 44 years, were involved in volunteer activities at Norwood LBC for several years.|
|Marjorie Gyde – At age 87, Marj passed away February 21, 2010 in the company of her family. Marj had been a competitive bowler and curler.|
|Ella Whiting – passed away peacefully on January 28, 2010 at the age of 90. Mother of Susan, she was an avid bowler.|
|Charles Alan (Al) Ringland – Al passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife, Patricia, Monday, July 27, 2009. Al had been a member of West End LBC for some years.|
|William Ernest (Ernie) Evans passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Riverview Health Centre. Ernie and his wife Jackie, had been a member of Norwood LBC since 2003.|
|Larry Kutz – Larry passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at St Boniface Hospital. For two years, Larry served as President of Gimli LBC and had been active in the New Horizons 55+ floor curling association for many years.|
|Lorne Self Lorne passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at the age of 74, at home with his family at his side. Lorne was a member of Norwood LBC for several years.|
|Richard LaBelle Richard passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007 following heart surgery. He was a member of St. John’s LBC for several years.|
|Dennis B. Whittaker Dennis died peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Riverview Health Centre. He was President of River Heights LBC for several years.|
|Flo Sims Flo was recognized for her contributions to the sport, both as a past-president of the Association and for being a member of the Selection Committee for Bowls Canada. Flo was an honourary life member of both Bowls Manitoba and Norwood LBC. She had been an Official, a certified coach, a President at Norwood, and had won several medals at the National Championships. She died on January 13, 2007.|
|Edward Payment After a long and courageous battle, Ed died peacefully on December 4, 2006. As well as bowling at Norwood LBC, Ed had been an avid curler and golfer.|
|William (Bill) Campbell Taylor A true friend of the sport, Bill died suddenly in his home on November 29, 2006. Bill was a great help in the operation of Norwood Lawn Bowling Club at 1212 Dakota and officiating as an Umpire for Bowls Manitoba. Bill competed in the Canadian Championships (Senior Men’s Triples) in 2006.|
|Hazel Gudmandson (Wilson) Hazel passed away on Jun 10, 2006 at St Boniface Hospital with her family by her side. Hazel started to bowl when Norwood was on Tache and continued until 2005. Every winter for the same period of time, she switched to curling.|
